On Friday, May 16, 2025, the Dairi Regency Statistics Office (BPS Dairi) organized a Coordination Meeting on Strengthening Sectoral Statistics and the Desa Cinta Statistik (Desa Cantik) program. The meeting, held at the BPS Dairi Auditorium, was attended by the Head of the Communications and Information Office (Kominfo) as the sectoral data custodian (walidata), the Head of the Civil Registration Office, and representatives from various local government agencies (OPDs) across Dairi.
The meeting opened with remarks from the Head of BPS Dairi, who expressed appreciation for the achievements made in sectoral statistics development during the first quarter of 2025. He emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration to ensure the availability of high-quality data that can serve as a strong foundation for evidence-based policymaking.
The event continued with a presentation by Ribka Anggina Tarigan, Head of the Sectoral Statistics Development Team, who explained the concept of collaboration within the National Statistical System (SSN). Ribka introduced the Quadrilateral Partnership model, which involves four key stakeholders: BPS, Government Ministries/Institutions/Local Governments (K/L/D), Higher Education Institutions, and Villages/Sub-districts. This partnership is designed to build the capacity of statistical actors, strengthen data sources, and improve statistical literacy across different levels of governance.
She elaborated that statistical development efforts are carried out holistically—from sectoral-level strengthening through government institutions, academic engagement via the "Pojok Statistik" (Statistics Corner) in universities, to community empowerment through the Desa Cantik initiative at the village level. Each actor plays a strategic role: the government aligns and supports programs, universities provide community service and technical capacity, while villages act as data producers, guided by BPS in managing local data.
A key highlight of the meeting was the breakout session, where participants were divided into three discussion rooms. Each room focused on specific themes: policy alignment for sectoral statistics, technical approaches and standards, and early-stage design of the One Data Dairi portal along with a planned Desa Cantik mobile application to support village-level data management.
Through this forum, BPS Dairi reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a collaborative, integrated, and sustainable statistical ecosystem to support data-driven local development.
