On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, BPS Kabupaten Dairi organized a socialization event focusing on the presentation of the Statistical Development Index (IPS) and the evaluation of statistical metadata. The event was held at the Mutiara Dairi Hotel and opened by the Acting Regent of Dairi, Mr. Surung Charles Bantjin, who also served as one of the keynote speakers.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Surung Charles Bantjin emphasized the importance of accurate data in government decision-making processes. "Just as we need a birth date to know someone’s birthday, the government requires precise data to create relevant and effective policies," he said.
The main presentations during the event covered the Statistical Development Index (IPS) and Statistical Metadata. Speakers from both BPS Dairi and the regional government agencies (OPD) of Dairi delivered comprehensive materials. The discussions provided deep insights into the critical role of statistics in supporting regional development.
In addition to the insightful discussions, the event featured interactive activities, including a lucky draw and a quiz, which added excitement and camaraderie among participants. These activities also provided an opportunity for attendees to get to know one another better, strengthening collaboration efforts aimed at improving the quality of statistics in Kabupaten Dairi.
Towards the end of the event, the Head of BPS Dairi, Mr. Joel Roy Perangin Angin, expressed his appreciation to all participants for their active involvement. He also highlighted a significant increase in the Statistical Development Index for Kabupaten Dairi, which rose from 1.68 to 2.13. "This achievement is something to be grateful for, but challenges still lie ahead. We hope that Dairi can continue to improve its ranking and compete with other districts and cities at the national level," he remarked
