Abstract

  • The total workforce in August 2022 was 7.67 million people, an increase of 159 thousand people compared to August 2021. In line with the increase in the number of the workforce, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased by 0.65 percentage points.
  • The August 2022 Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) was 6.16 percent, down 0.17 percentage points compared to August 2021.
  • The working population is 7.20 million people, an increase of 161,000 people from August 2021. Employment fields that experienced the largest percentage increase were the Government Administration, Defense, and Mandatory Social Security Sector (0.73 percentage point). Meanwhile, the sectors that experienced the biggest decline were the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Sector (0.97 percentage point).
  • A total of 4.25 million people (59.07 percent) worked in informal activities, down 0.26 percentage points compared to August 2021.
  • The percentage of underemployed decreased by 2.84 percentage points and the percentage of part-time workers also decreased by 2.97 percentage points compared to August 2021.
  • There are 150,000 people (1.36 percent of the working age population) affected by COVID-19. Consists of unemployment due to COVID-19 (12 thousand people), Non-Working Forces (BAK) due to COVID-19 (10 thousand people), temporarily not working due to COVID-19 (4 thousand people), and working residents who experienced a reduction in working hours. due to COVID-19 (124,000 people)
