Abstract

In March 2020, (the level of inequality of population expenditure as measured by) The Gini Ratio of Sumatera Utara was recorded at 0.316. There was a slight increase of 0.001 points compared to September 2019 which amounted to 0.315. Increased Gini This ratio means an increase in the level of expenditure inequality.
The Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2020 was recorded at 0.338, a slight increase compared to the September 2019 Gini Ratio of 0.337. Likewise, the Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2020 was recorded at 0.255, an increase compared to the September 2019 Gini Ratio of 0.262.
In March 2020, the distribution of population expenditure in the lowest 40 percent was 21.53 percent. This means that population expenditure is still in the category of low inequality. When broken down by region, in urban areas the figure was 19.99 percent and in rural areas the figure was 24.63 which means that both of them are also in the low inequality category.
