Abstract

As
of March 2019, North Sumatra Province NTP (2012 = 100) was recorded at 98.54 or
down 0.79 percent compared to the February 2019 NTP, which amounted to 99.33.

The
decline in the NTP in March 2019 was caused by a decrease in the NTP of the
Food Crop sub-sector by 2.11 percent, the NTP of the Community Plantation Plant
Sub-sector by 1.37 percent, and the Fishery Subsector NTP by 1.64 percent.
While the Horticulture sub-sector NTP rose by 2.24 percent, and the Livestock
sub-sector NTP rose by 0.07 percent.

Changes
in the Household Consumption Index (SCE) reflect the rural inflation /
deflation rate. In March 2019, there was a rural inflation in North Sumatra of
0.62 percent. This is due to an increase of five household consumption indexes,
namely the foodstuffs group index of 1.04 percent, processed food, beverages,
cigarettes and tobacco group index of 0.47 percent, housing group index of 0.47
percent, clothing group index by 0.23 percent, and the health group index by
0.17 percent. While the Education, Recreation and Sports group index fell by
0.02 percent, and the transportation and communication group index fell by 0.02
percent.

The
Exchange Rate of Agricultural Household Businesses (NTUP) of North Sumatra
Province in March 2019 was 106.41 or down 0.42 percent compared to NTUP the previous
month.
