• As of May 2019, North Sumatra Province's NTP (2012 = 100) was recorded at 98.14 or down 0.87 percent compared to April 2019 NTP which was 99.00.
• The decline in the NTP in May 2019 was caused by the decline in the Food Crop Sub-sector NTP by 0.55 percent, the NTP of the Community Plantation Plant Sub-sector by 2.73 percent, and the fishery sub-sector NTP by 0.31 percent. While the Horticulture sub-sector NTP rose by 1.05 percent, and the Livestock sub-sector NTP rose by 0.47 percent.
• Changes in the Household Consumption Index (SCE) reflect the rural inflation / deflation rate. As of May 2019, there was rural inflation in North Sumatra of 1.19 percent. This is due to the rise in all household consumption indexes, namely the foodstuffs group index by 2.39 percent, the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group index by 0.32 percent, the housing group index by 0.04 percent, the clothing group index by 0.75 percent, the health group index by 0.19 percent, the Education, Recreation and Sports group index by 0.01 percent, and the transportation and communication group index by 0.14 percent.
• The Exchange Rate of Agricultural Household Businesses (NTUP) of North Sumatra Province in May 2019 amounted to 107.54 or decreased by 0.06 percent compared to NTUP the previous month.
