On Wednesday, May 22, 2025, the Head of BPS Kabupaten Dairi, Joel Roy Perangin-angin, accompanied by his team, held an official hearing with the Regent of Dairi, Vickner Sinaga, at the Regent’s Official Residence. Also present were the Assistant for General Administration of the Dairi Regional Government, the Heads of PMD, Social Affairs, Kominfo, BKAD, Bappeda, the Secretary of the Public Works and Public Housing Office, and the Head of the Social Protection Division—each playing a crucial role in the implementation of statistical programs and village development.
The event opened with a presentation by the Head of BPS Dairi on the National Socioeconomic Unified Data (DTSEN), a national initiative to provide an accurate and comprehensive unified data foundation in the socioeconomic field. In his remarks, he emphasized that DTSEN will serve as the principal basis for evaluating regional programs and policies so that every decision can be made on the basis of valid, up-to-date data.
Next, he outlined the Village Loves Statistics (Desa Cantik) program, with Sitinjo II Village selected as the 2025 pilot site. This activity represents a key component of strengthening sectoral statistical development within the Dairi Regional Government. The program is designed to build each village’s capacity for independently collecting and analyzing statistical data, thereby supporting participatory and sustainable development planning. Discussion then turned to preparations for the 2025 Village Potential Survey (Podes 2025), where the Regent and the Regional Government of Dairi expressed their full support for the updating of village data. The Regent tasked Bappeda with coordinating the drafting of an official support letter in the form of a circular, which will be disseminated to all districts and villages.
Responding to the presentation, Regent Vikner Sinaga applauded BPS’s initiative to strengthen the region’s data foundation. He underscored the importance of honest and objective data as the bedrock of public policy: “It’s better to grapple at the outset, so that the data we produce truly reflects conditions on the ground and delivers real benefits to the community,” he said. The Regent also requested that BPS develop a formula for measuring the effectiveness of public policies, enabling every intervention to be evaluated quantitatively.
In closing the meeting, the Regent reiterated the importance of data integrity and transparency: “Let the data speak for itself, unvarnished. With objective data, we can formulate the right policies that truly serve the people.”
With the full support of the Regional Government of Dairi and interagency collaboration and synergy, the updating and utilization of DTSEN, the Desa Cantik program, and the 2025 Podes update will be further strengthened, guiding Dairi Regency toward more just, inclusive, and sustainable development.
