"Failing to plan is planning to fail."
This statement is more than just a cliché. Amid the complexities of regional development, it serves as a stark reminder. Without a solid plan and strong foundation, development efforts can veer far off course.
That is why BPS (Statistics Indonesia) of Dairi Regency participated in the Musrenbang RKPD (Regional Development Planning Forum) for Dairi Regency, held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Joel Roy Perangin-angin, Head of BPS Dairi, delivered a presentation on Dairi's socio-economic conditions—both as a reflection and a foundation for designing the region’s development direction for the next five years.
Several indicators show progress: the poverty rate decreased from 8.04% (2020) to 7.10% (2024), and the Human Development Index (HDI) rose to 75.88. But behind these numbers, there are many untold stories—of inequality, of citizens still lacking access to quality education, or of economic growth that not everyone has benefited from.
Data is not just statistics. It is a compass. Without a compass, we may go far, but never reach the destination. Through accurate, high-quality, and honest data, development plans can be crafted more precisely, fairly, and comprehensively.
BPS Dairi is committed to continuously providing data that not only describes the reality but also guides direction. Because good planning is born from the courage to face reality—and that starts with data.
