In January 2020, the NTP of North Sumatra Province (2018 = 100) was recorded at 113.69, an increase of 1.75 percent compared to the NTP of December 2019 which was 111.74.
The increase in NTP in January 2020 was caused by the increase in NTP of the People's Plantation Plant subsector by 4.25 percent, and NTP of the Fisheries subsector by 0.37 percent. Whereas the NTP of the Food Crop subsector fell by 1.19 percent, the Horticulture Sub-sector FTT dropped by 0.81 percent, and the Farmers' FTT NTP dropped by 0.21 percent.
Changes in the Household Consumption Index (IKRT) reflect the rural inflation / deflation rate. In January 2020, there was rural inflation in North Sumatra of 0.59 percent. This was caused by the increase in the household consumption index in 10 consumption groups, namely: the index of food, beverages, and tobacco by 0.78 percent, clothing and footwear index by 0.44 percent, the index of housing, electricity and other fuels by 0.06 percent, Household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance index by 0.48 percent, health index by 0.55 percent, transportation index by 0.23 percent, recreation, sports and cultural index by 0.06 percent, education index by 0.01 percent, the index of food and beverage / restaurant provision by 0.32 percent, and the index of personal care and other services by 0.53 percent. While the index of Information, communication and financial services fell by 0.06 percent.
