Abstract

• The Sumatera Utara Consumer Tendency Index (ITK) in the second quarter of 2019 was 124.58, meaning that the economic condition of consumers in the second quarter of 2019 was better than the first quarter of 2019. The improving economic condition of consumers was mainly driven by an increase in the volume of public consumption (index value 132.89).
• Compared to ITK in the first quarter of 2019, which has a value of 101.05, it means that the level of consumer optimism in the second quarter of 2019 is higher compared to the first quarter of 2019.
• Compared to the provinces in Sumatra, the Sumatera Utara index value for the second quarter of 2019 ranks fifth.
• ITK Sumatera Utara in the third quarter of 2019 is estimated at 100.51, meaning that the economic condition of consumers in the third quarter of 2019 is estimated to be better than the second quarter of 2019. The level of consumer optimism is caused by optimism for future earnings with an index value of 100.89.
