Gambling activities include online gambling as a legal violation that causes financial losses, social and psychological disorders, and can encourage perpetrators to commit further criminal acts, and also has the potential to affect employee performance and achievement of organizational goals.

In connection with the Circular Letter of the Minister for Abuse of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Number 5 of 2024 concerning the prevention and handling of online gambling activities within government agencies, the BPS of North Sumatra Province needs to take measures to prevent and handle online gambling activities, among which the handling is:

1. The PPK or direct superior is obliged to follow up on alleged violations of employee discipline related to online gambling activities by referring to the laws and regulations governing the discipline of civil servant/ASN employees;

2. For employees who are still suspects in the process of investigating criminal acts of gambling and/or online gambling, disciplinary violations can be investigated in accordance with statutory provisions.
